50% Less Wear Time

AirFlex is the first and only FDA-cleared aligner system designed explicitly for 12 hours of continuous daily wear time, without extending treatment duration.*

Designed to keep treatment on-track, AirFlex’s proprietary multi-copolymer utilizes sustained ideal force delivery, supporting natural bone tissue remodeling to compensate against day-time relapse.

Airflex - Hyper Elasticity Graph - 4x4-1

8.4x Less Loading Force

With industry aligners, very little strain (5%) results in excessive stress that is greater by 20x the optimal force. With AirFlex™ aligners, stress and strain have been decoupled, resulting in strain control within the working range without increasing stress.

During the loading phase, gentle forces are vital and help spare the immediate shock of pain on initial aligner insertion. The OrthoFX AirFlex aligner loading force of 147 g-f is approximately 8.4X less at 5% deflection from the industry standard aligner (1,243 g-f).*

89% Cases with ≤ 1 Refinements

AirFlex's groundbreaking predictability offers a smoother treatment experience for both your practice and your patient.

The multi-copolymer features a highly adaptable inner surface designed to conform precisely to the tooth's outer surface, ensuring an exact fit and preventing the aligner from unseating. HyperElastic technology expands the elastic range, accommodating up to 4 weeks of tooth movement, reducing relapse from non-wear and minimizing refinements.

AirFlex with New PrecisionFinish™ Aligners

Innovation designed for precise control in the finishing phase

This innovative new aligner is designed to deliver greater precision during the final stages of orthodontic treatments, ensuring predictable tooth movement, alignment, and aesthetics before patients transition to the retention phase. Starting October 28, 2025, PrecisionFinish aligners will be seamlessly integrated on the last 4 stages of treatment for all AirFlex comprehensive cases.

AirFlex with PrecisionFinish - Unloading Force

TruForce™ Delivery

PrecisionFinish Aligners are designed to deliver sustained optimal forces throughout the finishing phase.

They provide sustained force control, which is required for final detailing and function. In contrast, standard aligners apply excessive force that diminishes quickly, becoming passive soon after insertion. This lack of control is a key factor contributing to the excessive refinements seen in competing systems.

Designed to Achieve Optimal Alignment

PrecisionFinish Aligners remain active throughout the stage, helping achieve the orthodontic tooth movements required to optimize orthodontic detailing and aesthetics in the final stages of treatment, and to stabilize the teeth prior to the retention phase.

*PrecisionFinish Aligners will be included in all cases - last 4 stages for AirFlex Full or last 2 stages for AirFlex 10.
**FDA-cleared for at least 9-12 hours of continuous daily wear.

Seamless Integration

No additional cost. No additional steps needed.

PrecisionFinish aligners are automatically included with all new AirFlex treatment plans at no additional cost—no additional steps are needed. This enhancement contributes to AirFlex’s remarkable performance and underscores OrthoFX’s commitment to improve treatment efficiency.

"With PrecisionFinish in the final stages, I’ve seen a noticeable difference in how precisely I can finish treatments. Tooth alignment is dialed in beautifully. I’m achieving the results as planned."

AirFlex FAQs

What are the patient wear instructions?

AirFlex aligners are FDA-cleared for 12 hours of continuous daily wear. Aligners changed at 7-day intervals or as instructed by a doctor.

For PrecisionFinish aligners, “full-time” (22 hours per day) is recommended per FDA guidance and for best results. These finishing aligners are designed specifically to provide more control in the finishing phase, providing built-in detailing for optimal results. The PrecisionFinish aligners are included with AirFlex cases, in the last 4 stages of FXFUll treatment plans (in the last 2 stages of FX10 plans).

Will AirFlex aligners increase treatment duration?

No. AirFlex aligners will not increase treatment duration. For example, if the treatment duration is of 12 months if wearing another aligners brand, AirFlex treatment duration will be of a comparable treatment time. The difference is that patients will only need to wear their aligners continuously for 12 hours a day instead of the 20-22 hours required by other aligner brands.

Do other brands offer shorter wear time?

No, AirFlex aligners are the only patented and FDA-cleared aligner system designed explicitly for shorter wear time. Other aligner brands require 20 to 22 hours of daily wear time versus 12 hours of continuous wear time for AirFlex.

Are there other brands with 12 hour wear aligners?

There are other brands promoting night wear aligners, but AirFlex aligners are the only patented and FDA-cleared aligners for 12 hours of continuous wear time*. Shorter wear time means more time for patients to live life uninterrupted.

Will patients experience more discomfort and a longer treatment experience with AirFlex aligners?

No, AirFlex aligners with patented HyperElastic technology are designed to straighten teeth using gentle, optimal forces. Leading brand aligners exert more force, which may cause discomfort and pain. They also require 20 to 22 hours of wear time per day versus 12 hours of continuous wear time required for AirFlex™ aligners.

AirFlex is designed to deliver the same treatment duration and you may experience fewer unplanned modifications or refinements.

How do I order PrecisionFinish aligners and how much does it cost?

You do not need to order the finishing aligners; they are automatically included as the last stages in every AirFlex case or refinement. There is no extra fee.

Will PrecisionFinish aligners be indicated on the Treatment Report?

Yes. The Treatment Report for AirFlex™ with PrecisionFinish cases will indicate which stages are AirFlex and which are PrecisionFinish.
